Summer is a great time to check out new cookbooks and try your hand at a few new recipes.
In particular, I really like using my extra time to find recipes for using up all the veggies and greens I have growing in my garden. I also look for recipes on preserving foods so that I have lots of things in the freezer for fall and winter.
Here are 4 of my favrote cookbooks:
BAKE by Paul Hollywood

If you’re a Great British Baking Show fan, then you know Paul Hollywood and probably have a low-key crush on him like I do. (No, just me? Okay.) His baking chops are phenomenal and this book contains some of his best recipes. My favorite is the soda bread!
The Beginner’s Guide to Preserving Food at Home: Easy Instructions for Canning, Freezing, Drying, Brining, and Root Cellaring Your Favorite Fruits, Herbs and Vegetables by Janet Chadwick

If you’re a beginner interested in learning how to preserve food, this is your go-to. It goes over canning, drying, freezing and more. Plus, it goes over common fruits, veggies and herbs and tells you what preservation process works best.
Country Comfort: Hearty, wholesome meals in minutes by Hari Beavis

So, suprise! This cookbook doesn’t actually release until my birthday in September! I got to read an early edition through NetGalley and I really loved the recipes for comfort food that the author featured. The book also breaks all recipes down into either 10, 20, or 30 minutes so you can choose how much work you’re willing to put in.
Knife Drop: Creative Recipes Anyone Can Cook by Nick DiGiovanni

You might have heard of Nick from MasterChef. In any case, his cookbook is great. I love that he goes over some professional cooking tips, and he also includes how to make basics like chicken stock and pickles. Nobody ever tells you how to make basic chicken stock.
If you’re interested in learning more about gardening, check out my upcoming book, “Marigolds & Morels: Gardening and Foraging for Beginners”! Available via Kindle and paperback this fall, my easy-to-read guide is great for anybody who wants to get into growing their own herbs and vegetables, as well as find out how you can forage in your own backyard.
